India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma is currently training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE), where he is reportedly set to spend the next one week. According to close source to RevSportz, he has already completed a batting session lasting one hour. Rishabh Pant, who is recovering from a toe injury sustained during the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England, is also present at the CoE.
Rohit had bid farewell to T20I cricket after leading India to their second ICC T20 World Cup title last year. Earlier in 2025, he guided India to ICC Champions Trophy glory. However, during the IPL, both he and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from Test cricket.
The 38-year-old was last seen in action during IPL 2025, where he played 15 matches, scoring 418 runs at an average of 29.86 and a strike rate of 149.29. He registered four half-centuries in the season, with a highest score of 81.
His most recent ODI appearance came on March 9, 2025, in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand. Rohit played a match-winning knock of 73 in that game and was named Player of the Match.
Rohit was spotted at the nets as Sarfaraz Khan shared an Instagram story of him training. Sarfaraz also posted a picture of himself in conversation with the former India T20I and Test captain, which excited fans about Rohit’s return.
Meanwhile, Team India are currently engaged in the Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. Their next 50-over assignment is a three-match ODI series in Australia, starting on October 19, followed by five T20Is. Fans will be eager to see Rohit don the India jersey again in ODIs for the first time since his Champions Trophy heroics in March.
