Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani pace ace, has suggested that India should be concerned by the manner in which Rohit Sharma, the captain, was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Asia Cup match at Pallekele on Sunday.
“I don’t think Rohit is able to read or understand Shaheen at all,” Shoaib said on his YouTube channel. “The visual of Rohit Sharma being beaten like this was not good, he is a far better player than this. Rohit can bat much better than this, I think he is worrying too much.”
Afridi claimed Rohit’s wicket in the fifth over, following a rain delay. After setting him up with three deliveries that left the bat, he then sneaked one back in to beat Rohit’s tentative defensive prod. India collapsed to 66-4 and were indebted to Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) for their eventual total of 266.
