Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on Thursday, issued a statement almost three months after the tragic stampede incident during their IPL 2025 title celebrations, which left 11 people dead and 56 others injured outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4.

The tragedy happened in less than 24 hours after RCB’s biggest moment, where they won their maiden IPL trophy. On June 3, they ended their 18-year long wait by defeating Punjab Kings in the final of IPL 2025 in Ahmedabad. However, the joy quickly turned into despair as a massive crowd gathered, after a string of social media posts asking fans to come to the Chinnaswamy Stadium, to welcome the team back home, which led to chaos and loss of lives. Reportedly, those handling the operations for the victory parade had rushed the social media announcement without prior police clearance to conduct the celebrations.

In their post, RCB reflected on their absence from social media since the incident. “It’s been close to three months since we last posted here. The Silence wasn’t Absence. It was Grief. This space was once filled with energy, memories and moments that you enjoyed the most.. But June 4th changed everything. That day broke our hearts, and the silence since then has been our way of holding space. In that silence, we’ve been grieving. Listening. Learning. And slowly, we’ve begun to build something more than just a response. Something we truly believe in.”

The note also introduced their new initiative. “That’s how RCB CARES came to life. It grew out of a need to honour, to heal, and to stand beside our fans. A platform for meaningful action shaped by our community & fans. We return to this space today, not with celebration but with care. To share. lo stand with you. lo walk forward, together. 1o continue being the pride or Karnataka. RCB CARES. And we always will. More details soon…”

RCB had earlier announced Rs 10 lakh for families of the victims and a fund for those injured. The Karnataka government has held the franchise accountable for such mismanagement.
