In the 62nd encounter of IPL 2025, Rajasthan Royals (RR) ended their season on a high note by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a thrilling contest. Both RR and CSK were not competing for the playoffs, but RR finished with pride, and the key reason for that was young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Batting first, CSK posted a total of 187 with the loss of eight wickets, but RR chased that total with ease and finished the game in the 17.1 over. The standout performance came from Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed a fiery 57 runs off just 33 balls, which included four boundaries and four maximums at an impressive strike rate of 172.72. His aggressive stroke play kept the scoreboard ticking, which made the opposition come under pressure.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored 252 runs in seven matches in the IPL 2025
Suryavanshi’s fearless approach in the middle overs provided RR the momentum they needed. His partnership with Sanju Samson, where Samson scored 41 runs off 31 balls, stabilised the innings after the loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored 36 runs off 19 balls. Suryavanshi lost his wicket to Ravichandran Ashwin as Ravindra Jadeja took a catch at point with the score at 138/3.
Despite RR being eliminated from the race for playoffs, the victory was a moral booster and gave a glimpse of the talent of the young, promising Suryavanshi. With 252 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 206.56, which includes a century and a fifty, Vaibhav has proven to be one of the brightest finds of the season.
