It was Suryakumar Yadav once again doing what he does best every time he comes out to bat. In the 50th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians’ (MI), the Sawai Mansingh Stadium witnessed another magnificent batting display from him, as he scored an unbeaten 48 runs off 23 balls. His partnership with skipper Hardik Pandya, worth 94 off 44 balls, provided a fitting end to MI’s first innings.

Following yet another match-winning contribution, Suryakumar now holds the Orange Cap with 475 runs from 11 matches, having overtaken Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan. This is a significant achievement for a middle-order batter, especially when competing with some of the best young and emerging talents. With three half-centuries to his name, the batter is closing in on a century at the pace he is currently playing.

Suryakumar Yadav – Lynchpin of MI’s Batting

Mumbai Indians’ success this season owes a great deal to Yadav’s consistency in the batting line-up. With his 11th consecutive 25-plus score, there’s no doubt Yadav has been pivotal every time he has taken the field, particularly with the bat.

Having debuted for Mumbai Indians in 2012, Suryakumar’s journey has been full of promise, and few would have predicted he would become such a valuable asset to the team. “I barely slept the night before my debut for Mumbai Indians – went to bed around 4 or 5 in the morning. There was so much excitement,” Suryakumar told broadcasters.
