Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by an emphatic margin of 100 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in the 50th match of IPL 2025 on May 1.

Here are the top 3 moments from the match:

1. Hardik Pandya’s promotion to No. 4

Pandya promoted himself to No. 4, and that proved to be a masterstroke by him and the MI team management. The platform was set for him, and the captain took full advantage of the situation, playing a blinder of 48 runs off 23 balls at a strike rate of 208.70. His innings included six fours and a six. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav was also sublime from the other end with his 48 off 23 balls, and together they added an unbeaten 94 runs from just 44 balls.

2. RR’s openers were gone too soon

RR had high expectations from Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had scored a century in the last match. However, he was out for a duck when he mistimed a shot off Deepak Chahar to mid-on and was caught by Will Jacks. In the next over, Trent Boult bowled Yashasvi Jaiswal, and thus both openers were dismissed within the first two overs of the innings.

3. Bumrah’s double blow

Jasprit Bumrah came on to bowl in the fifth over of the innings. On the third ball, Riyan Parag hit him for a boundary, but Bumrah made an immediate comeback on the next delivery by dismissing Parag, who was caught by Rohit Sharma near mid-wicket. Off the very next ball, Shimron Hetmyer was caught at short mid-wicket by Suryakumar Yadav. These two quick wickets were major setbacks for RR’s innings.
