In the 50th match of IPL 2025, held at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the Mumbai Indians (MI) produced a dominant performance, defeating the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 100 runs. After winning the toss, RR elected to bowl first. Mi posted a formidable total of 217 for the loss of just two wickets, thanks to a superb innings by Ryan Rickelton, who scored 61 off 38 balls, including seven fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 160.53. He was well supported by Rohit Sharma, who made 53 off 36 balls with nine fours at a strike rate of 147.22.
Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya then added explosive cameos, both smashing 48 off 23 balls at a strike rate of 208.70. In response, RR crumbled under pressure and were bowled out for just 117 runs in 16.1 overs.
With this defeat, Rajasthan Royals are officially out of the playoff race, as they can no longer reach the qualification mark of 16 points.
Ryan Rickelton was named Player of the Match for his vital knock. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:“Awesome. I have family here as well this week. It’s been a really good week.It was a bit of a slow start, but we’re clicking nicely as a partnership. With the weather looming, we were a bit unsure. That’s probably the thing about the IPL – I was guilty in the first quarter of the tournament of trying to do too much. We have such a strong think-tank, senior players, and management group.”
This victory marked Ml’s sixth consecutive win, taking them to the top of the points table.
