Rajasthan Royals pacer Jofra Archer highlighted the importance of remaining grounded, even when things go your way, especially in the fast-paced world of T20 cricket where conditions increasingly favour the batters. Archer’s remarks came after his stellar performance played a crucial role in RR’s triumph over Punjab Kings in Mullanpur.
Tasked with defending a sizeable total of 206 against a strong PBKS batting unit, Archer led from the front. The senior overseas seamer made the new ball talk with sharp pace and movement, finishing with impressive figures of 3 for 25. His opening burst proved to be the turning point—within five balls, he had dismissed Priyansh Arya and the in-form Shreyas Iyer, dealing an early double blow to the opposition.
Celebrate the good days: Archer
Sandeep Sharma and Mahesh Theekshana chipped in with two wickets each, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Kumar Kartikeya picked up one apiece to round off a collective bowling effort. Archer’s impact, however, stood out, earning him the Player of the Match award in their IPL 2025 fixture on Saturday, April 5.
Reflecting on his performance, Archer said, “It’s still early in the tournament—days like the first game can happen. I’m just glad to make a contribution. When things go your way, you’ve got to capitalise. Celebrate the good days and learn from the bad ones. Sometimes luck favours you, other times it goes to the batters—we’re all putting in the work. Not every day will be perfect, so when it clicks, enjoy it because a tough day could be just around the corner.”
Having already dismissed Rachin Ravindra in the previous match against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati, and now with three more wickets against PBKS, Archer seems to have rediscovered his rhythm at just the right time.
