Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered their fourth win of this ongoing IPL 2025 as they defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) comprehensively at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. RCB chased down the 174-run target with ease in 17.3 overs and bagged the win with nine wickets in hand. Phil Salt won the Player of the Match award for scoring 65 (33). But, Virat Kohli also played an unbeaten knock of 62 off 45 and it turned out to be his 100th fifty in the T20 format.
In the shortest format of the game, scoring runs consistently has always been a challenge for batters all around the globe. But, Kohli has managed to score runs at a certain rate for all these years and now, he has surpassed the fifty-run mark for the 100th time. However, he is the only second batter to do so as Australia’s David Warner has already 108 T20 fifties to his name.
Virat Kohli is now in the fifth spot in the Orange Cap race in the IPL 2025
After today’s knock, Virat Kohli has scored 13134 runs in 388 T20 innings, at an average of 41.69 and a strike rate of 134.36. He has smashed nine centuries along with 100 fifties so far. In this IPL season, he has now scored 248 runs in six innings, sitting at the fifth position in the race for the Orange Cap. After six matches, he has an average of 62.00 along with a strike rate of 143.35 as he has now smashed three fifties so far.
However, his partnership with Phil Salt at the top of RCB has been very fruitful so far. Salt, known as an aggressive batter, has managed to give brisk starts to the team in maximum games and that has given Kohli to get settled at the other. Even, today, their opening partnership of 92 runs in 8.4 overs set the tone of the chase for RCB.
