RR vs SRH: Zeeshan Ansari Outshines Cummins, Shami, and Harshal on Debut

It was quite a disappointing loss for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. After failing to score in the powerplay, the SRH batting lineup was single-handedly run by Aniket Verma’s 74 runs in 41 balls with added inputs from Heinrich Klaasen and Travis Head. Giving away all their wickets, the team somehow put up a score of 163 runs after struggle against Delhi Capitals bowlers like Mitchell Starc. 

Not Pat Cummins or Mohammed Shami but it was a youngster who stole the show in the second innings for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Having failed to secure a win against the Delhi Capitals batters, it was a fine bowling stunt by Zeeshan Ansari. The youngster was succesful in taking three major wickets of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Faf du Plessis, and KL Rahul. Plessis 50 runs and an added 72-runs partnership of McGurk and Abhishek Porel was enough to bring in the second win for the Delhi Capitals. DC now charts at No. 2 in the points table.

Who is Zeeshan Ansari?

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, the legspinner was part of India’s U-19 squad besides the big names of Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan. As part of the group in 2016, it was now that the youngster has got his prominence and getting the popularity out in public. 

Before entering the IPL last season, Zeeshan stole the show with his performance in Uttar Pradesh T20 League as part of the Meerut Mavericks team. In the 12 games played, the bowler took an astonishing 24 wickets resulting with an economy rate of 7.60. His cannot bowling has made him a star to be a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team besides bowlers like Cummins and Shami.
