India’s 10m air rifle mixed team dio, Rudrankksh Patil and Arya Rajesh Borse, secured a silver medal after falling short against the formidable Chinese team of Wang Zifei and Song Buhan with a score of 9-17 in the gold medal clash. The match took place on the penultimate day of the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun in Argentina 2025. With a current tally of four golds, two silvers, and one bronze, India stands second on the medal table, trailing China, who edge ahead with more bronze medals.

The mixed team event featured 16 pairs, and both Indian teams advanced to the medal rounds. Rudrankksh, fresh off his individual gold, and Arya posted a combined qualification score of 630.5, placing them second. The Chinese pair, meanwhile, led the qualification standings.

India’s second pair—Arjun Babuta and R. Narmada Nithin—also reached the bronze medal match with a score of 629.6, finishing fourth behind Argentina’s Marcelo Gutierezz and Fernanda Russo.

Gutierezz, who had already won Argentina’s sole medal at the event—a men’s air rifle bronze—added another to the host nation’s count with Russo. Despite the Indian pair starting strong with a 6-0 lead, the Argentine team rallied to win 17-13.

In the gold medal match, Rudrankksh and Arya put up a solid performance but were outpaced by the high-scoring Chinese team, who maintained control throughout the contest. The Indian duo’s best stretch came between the ninth and 12th single-shot series, where they claimed three consecutive wins and a draw, but the deficit proved too wide to overcome.

Elsewhere, at the Shotgun range, India’s women’s trap shooters failed to make it to the medal matches. Neeru was the top Indian performer with a score of 115, finishing 12th. Pragati Dubey scored 110 for 16th place, and Bhavya Tripathi ended 23rd with 106.

In the men’s trap event, veteran shooter Zoravar Singh Sandhu shot a perfect 25 in his fifth and final round, bringing his total to 119. This earned him a place in a multi-athlete shoot-off for a single spot in the final. His compatriots, Prithviraj Tondaiman (117) and Lakshay Sheoran (115), ranked lower in the standings.
