In the 60th match of IPL 2025, the Gujarat Titans (GT) displayed complete dominance over the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, May 18. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan put together an unbeaten 205-run partnership, chasing the target without losing a single wicket. This formidable stand is now officially the sixth-highest partnership in IPL history and the second-highest for GT—just behind their own 210-run stand against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Ahmedabad in 2024. For the first time in the history of the cash rich league, a total of 200-plus was chased without the loss of any wickets.
Sudharsan played a majestic innings, scoring 108 off 61 balls, including 12 boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 177.05. Meanwhile, skipper Gill supported him perfectly with a blistering 93 off 53 deliveries, hitting three boundaries and seven sixes at a strike rate of 175.47. The duo dismantled the DC bowling attack and produced a flawless display that will be remembered throughout the season.
GT, RCB, and PBKS have all secured their places in the playoffs.
During the post-match presentation, skipper Gill spoke about his partnership with Sudharsan: “When you’re in form, and someone like Sai is converting starts, you don’t need to say much. You just talk about what’s required. When in flow, it’s important not to get carried away. We wanted to finish the game ourselves. At the halfway point, we felt we’d given 10–15 runs too many—there was grip for the spinners, and they batted well. But when we came out to bat, we just wanted to play good cricketing shots.”
Speaking after being named Player of the Match and receiving the Orange Cap, Sudharsan said: “There’s a real joy in finishing games. During the break, I thought about that, and it paid off. After the powerplay, they bowled well between overs 7 and 10, but we stayed calm, took the game deep, and got two or three big overs after the 12th, which made the difference. I had taken risks in earlier games that didn’t come off. Now, I’ve started believing in myself more—to take the game deep and expand my range. Not much has changed technically, but mentally I’m freer and more expressive.”
On his partnership with Gill, Sudharsan said: “There’s a great understanding between us. We complement each other—especially when one is going well. Running between the wickets is key too.”
