Zimbabwe is gearing up to host the Zim Afro T10 tournament, known for its fast-paced cricket action, starting on July 20. Bollywood icon Sanjay Dutt, alongside Sir Sohan Roy of Aries Group of Companies, has entered the cricketing world as the co-owner of the Harare Hurricanes team. This marks their debut in the sport.

Additionally, Lahore Qalandars, a franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), have also secured a franchise for the Zim Afro T10. Their team, Durban Qalandars, will represent the Qalanders brand in the inaugural edition of the tournament.

The Zim Afro T10 will be Zimbabwe’s first franchise cricket event, taking place in Harare. The tournament will showcase five privately owned teams: Durban Qalandars, CapeTown Samp Army, Bulawayo Braves, Joburg Lions, and the Harare Hurricanes. The players’ draft is scheduled for July 2 in a grand ceremony held in Harare.

Dutt expressed his enthusiasm at expanding cricket’s reach worldwide, considering it a religion in India. He hopes that the Harare Hurricanes would deliver outstanding performances in the Zim Afro T10, and bring joy and entertainment to cricket fans in Zimbabwe.

“Cricket is like a religion in India, and as one of the biggest nations in the sport, I feel it is our duty to take the game to every corner of the world,” he said. “Zimbabwe has a rich history in the sport and to associate with that and help fans have a great time is something that truly gives me joy. I am looking forward to the Harare Hurricanes doing really well at the Zim Afro T10.”
