For the Indians, the first half of the year 2025 saw them battling with injuries and personal issues, and they slipped outside the top 20 in world rankings.
Despite a challenging first six months, they overcame it in the latter half. Coming from an injury layoff, the former world No. 1 pair re-established themselves with deep runs in the various S500, S750 and S1000 tournaments. They won a bronze medal at the BWF World Championship and finished as the runner-up at the Hong Kong Open and China Masters, proving their ability to stand their ground against the top players. The top notch performances also saw them climbing back to the top 3 in the world rankings.
In the prestigious season-ending tournament, PV Sindhu remains the only Indian to triumph in women’s singles in 2018. If Satwik and Chirag can play to their potential, they have a golden opportunity to make history and claim India’s first ever BWF World Tour Finals in men’s doubles.
