Ravi Shastri, the former Indian cricketer who was also the national team’s head coach, expressed his belief that Arshdeep Singh had the talent to feature for India across all formats of international cricket. Shastri has tipped Arshdeep as a possible contender for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to take place in India later this year.

Arshdeep, representing Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing IPL 2023, has been the centre of attention for his remarkable performance with the ball. Excelling in both the Powerplay and the death overs, he has been a nightmare for the opposition batters. He has secured 14 wickets from eight games while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 8.89.

“To be honest, the more I see him (Arshdeep), I feel that he can play all formats for India,” said Shastri in an interaction with ESPNCricinfo. “Though I have not seen much of him in the red-ball format. But the way Arshdeep is improving and running in, he is gaining confidence. I think he will become a little stronger than I saw him last year resulting in very good performance.

“There is room for improvement, and I think when you see injuries are taking place to some of the other players, Arshdeep is someone should be kept in the mix and should be given that opportunity and given that encouragement to play. I am sure he can bowl 10 overs. He is still young and I am talking about the red-ball format as well.”
