Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal is set to perform at the grand opening ceremony of the ICC Women’s World Cup in Guwahati, ahead of the first match between India and Sri Lanka.
Her performance will be one of the main attractions of the day. She has also recorded the official anthem of the tournament, titled “Bring It Home.”
Earlier, the ICC announced an increase in the prize pool, which has now risen to USD 13.88 million — a 297% increase from the previous edition. The Men’s ODI World Cup in 2023 had a prize pool of USD 10 million. The winners of the trophy will receive USD 4.48 million, while the runners-up will get USD 2.24 million. The teams eliminated in the semi-finals will receive USD 1.12 million each, and all other participating teams will receive USD 250,000.
Tickets for all league matches in India are priced at INR 100 during the first phase, which is considered very low for any ICC event. This has been done to encourage maximum stadium attendance.
India will be hosting 50-over World Cup matches for the first time since 2013.
