Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has confirmed his availability for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, where he will represent West Zone. The tournament is scheduled to begin on August 28 in Bengaluru, with zonal selections set to take place on Friday in Mumbai.

Alongside Iyer, middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan, all-rounder Shivam Dube, and pacer Tushar Deshpande have also confirmed their participation in the domestic tournament. All four players have formally informed the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) of their availability.

A source from the MCA confirmed the development to The Indian Express, saying: “Iyer has informed us that he is available to play in the Duleep Trophy. Other players like Sarfaraz, Shivam Dubey and Tushar Deshpande have confirmed their availability.”

Iyer was not included in India’s ongoing Test tour of England. In red-ball cricket, he has scored 811 runs in 14 Tests, including one century and five fifties. His last appearance in the format came in February 2024 against England. Earlier this year, he was part of India’s Champions Trophy title-winning campaign in Dubai.

Meanwhile, West Zone selectors are unlikely to consider Ravindra Jadeja due to his ongoing workload in the England Test series. He is expected to be rested for the domestic season ahead of the Duleep Trophy. However, pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur is likely to be available for selection.

The 2025–26 domestic season will begin with the Duleep Trophy and end with the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy, scheduled to conclude on April 3, 2026. The Ranji Trophy is set to begin on October 15, with Phase One running until November 19, followed by Phase Two from January 22 to February 1, 2026.
