Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar praised Shubman Gill‘s temperament, stating that he has the potential to be a game-changer for India ahead of the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at the Oval from June 7-11.

Vengsarkar also acknowledged Gill’s skills as a shotmaker, highlighting his ability to excel in the T20 format, making him a well-rounded player across all formats. Furthermore, Vengsarkar expressed his preference for Ajinkya Rahane over Suryakumar Yadav to play at the Oval.

“Shubman Gill is an outstanding cricketer. We expect a lot from him. He has a very bright future for India. He is a very skilful player. He has got a good temperament and all the other necessary qualities to play for India for a long time and developed into a match-winner,” Dilip Vengsarkar told Hindustan Times.

“I hope Rahane gets the nod ahead of Suryakumar Yadav because he is an experienced player. He has played good knocks in English conditions in the past. His technique is such that he can adapt to the English conditions quickly.”
