India Women are currently preparing for their upcoming tour of England, which includes five T20Is scheduled from June 28 to July 12, followed by a three-match ODI series from July 16 to 22.
However, ahead of the series, left-arm spinner Shuchi Upadhyay has been ruled out due to injury. In her place, experienced bowler Radha Yadav has been named as her replacement. Radha’s inclusion brings both experience and depth to the squad.
The left-arm spinner has featured in 84 T20Is and seven ODIs for India. Her last appearance came in December 2024 against the West Indies, where she picked up four wickets. The upcoming England tour presents another opportunity for Radha to make her presence felt at the international level and possibly secure her spot ahead of major assignments.

What Happened to Shuchi Upadhyay?
Shuchi Upadhyay was forced to withdraw from the tour after sustaining a left shin injury during a training camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The injury is a setback for the young bowler, who had recently made her ODI debut in the tri-series in Sri Lanka, where India emerged victorious. Her debut came against South Africa.
Shuchi had been in excellent form leading into the England tour. She was the third-highest wicket-taker in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy, claiming 18 wickets at an economy rate of 3.48.
With the Women’s ODI World Cup on the horizon, this tour is crucial for players looking to solidify their places in the squad. For Radha Yadav, this is a valuable chance to showcase her skills, regain rhythm, and push her case for selection in India’s World Cup plans.
