Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka played a captain’s knock, scoring a brilliant century in the first ODI against Bangladesh in Colombo on July 2, 2025. His composed 106 off 123 balls, which included six boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of 86.17, helped Sri Lanka reach a total of 244 in 49.2 overs after an early collapse.
After losing opener Pathum Nissanka for a duck in the fourth over, Sri Lanka found themselves in deep trouble at 29 for 3. It was then that Asalanka stepped up and anchored the innings.
