Bangladesh secured their first-ever T20I series victory in Sri Lanka by defeating the hosts in the third T20I by eight wickets.
Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first in the series decider. None of the Lankan batters, except for Pathum Nissanka and Dasun Shanaka, looked convincing. Nissanka scored 46 off 39 balls, while Shanaka remained unbeaten on 35 from 25 deliveries.
The hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals, with the Bangladeshi bowlers maintaining consistent pressure throughout. Mahedi Hasan was the standout performer for Bangladesh, delivering early breakthroughs and finishing with outstanding figures of 4 for 11 from his four overs at an economy rate of just 2.80. Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shamim Hossain also chipped in with a wicket each.
Chasing a target of 133, Bangladesh made a shaky start, losing opener Parvez Hossain Emon for a duck on the first ball of the innings. However, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and captain Litton Das steadied the innings with a composed 74-run partnership off 50 balls. Litton was eventually caught by Kusal Perera off Kamindu Mendis.
Towhid Hridoy then joined Tamim at the crease and ensured there were no further hiccups. Bangladesh reached the target with 31 balls to spare. Tamim finished unbeaten on 73 off 47 balls, including one four and six sixes, while Hridoy remained not out on 27 from 25 deliveries, striking one four and one six.
