
Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 14 runs in the third encounter of the three-match T20I series in Dambulla. With this win, they levelled the series, as the second T20I was washed out and Pakistan had won the series opener.
Due to rain, the match was reduced to 12 overs per side. Pakistan won the toss and opted to field. Sri Lanka had a poor start, losing Pathum Nissanka for a duck in the very first over. However, every Sri Lankan batter contributed thereafter to set up a competitive total of 160/6.
Captain Dasun Shanaka was the top scorer, playing a breathtaking innings of 34 off just nine balls. His knock included five sixes and came at a strike rate of 377.78. He also stitched together a crucial partnership of 52 runs from just 15 balls with Janith Liyanage. For Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim Jr. was the standout bowler, picking up three wickets.
In reply, Pakistan lost Sahibzada Farhan in the second over. Captain Salman Agha then came to the crease and played an aggressive innings of 45 off just 12 balls, including five fours and three sixes, at a strike rate of 375. Apart from a 49-run partnership between Mohammad Nawaz and Khawaja Nafay, the rest of the batters failed to make any significant contribution.
For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga claimed 4/35 in his three overs. The wily leg-spinner was adjudged both Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
