The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) Governing Board met on Saturday and approved several key components for the upcoming inaugural edition of the Shooting League of India (SLI). The board discussed and finalised elements such as the league’s governance model, disciplines, competition format, player categories, agency appointments, branding, and prize structure. This marks a significant step in establishing a professionally-run and commercially sustainable shooting league in the country.

A transparent governance framework was adopted to align with NRAI’s broader vision, paving the way for structured private investment while maintaining regulatory standards. The board underscored SLI as a milestone initiative to expand shooting’s appeal across India and uncover emerging talent from grassroots levels.

“By combining top-tier competition with the excitement of a league format, SLI is set to redefine the way shooting is viewed and followed in India. It’s a globally unique concept that allows international and Indian stars to compete as teammates, creating an ideal learning environment for young athletes,” said NRAI President Kalikesh Singh Deo.

Here’s the format of events in the SLI2025

The board approved the Technical Committee’s recommendations on event formats. SLI 2025 will include mixed team competitions in Pistol (10M, 25M), Rifle (10M, 50M 3P), and Shotgun (Trap & Skeet), aligning with NRAI’s technical standards.

Scheduled between 20th November and 2nd December 2025, the league will begin with an opening ceremony on 20th November. Eight teams will compete in a group-stage format from 21st to 26th November, followed by knockout rounds featuring the top two teams from each group.

Player participation has been structured into four tiers — Elite Champions, World Elite, National Champions, and Junior & Youth Championships — ensuring a competitive blend of seasoned professionals and rising stars. The NRAI President confirmed growing international interest in the league.

The SLI logo has been finalised and will be officially revealed at a launch event in New Delhi on June 4th, 2025. Details regarding prize money and awards will be shared shortly.
