
Ishan Kishan and Kumar Kushagra led Jharkhand to their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title as they beat Haryana by 69 runs in a high-scoring final in Pune.
Haryana won the toss and elected to field. Jharkhand lost their first wicket early, with Virat Singh managing just two runs. Kushagra then joined Kishan at the crease, and the duo stitched together a destructive partnership of 177 runs off just 82 balls, taking Jharkhand close to the 200-run mark.
Later, Anukul Roy and Robin Minz added an unbeaten 75 runs off 29 balls to help Jharkhand post a massive total of 262/3. Kishan played an attacking innings from the outset, hitting a six off the fourth ball he faced. The left-handed batter struck 101 runs off 49 balls, smashing ten sixes and six fours at a strike rate of 206.12. Kushagra, on the other hand, scored 81 off 38 balls, an innings laced with six fours and five sixes at a blistering strike rate of 213.16.
In reply, Haryana lost two wickets in the first over, and none of their batters apart from Yashvardhan Dalal made a notable impact. Dalal showed some resistance, scoring 53 off 22 balls. Left-arm pacer Sushant Mishra was the pick of the Jharkhand bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/27. Kishan was named Player of the Match, while Anukul Roy was awarded Player of the Series.
Kishan’s century in the final helped him finish the tournament as the highest run-scorer, amassing 517 runs in 10 innings at an average of 57.44.
