
India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has moved closer to reclaiming the top position in the ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings for batters following her stellar performance in the recently concluded tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Mandhana impressed everyone with her consistency, scoring 264 runs in five innings, making her the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament. Her form played a key role in India clinching the tri-series title and helped her rise to second in the latest ICC ODI rankings for batters. She is now just 11 rating points behind South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt, who managed only 86 runs in the series. Mandhana, who previously held the top spot in 2019, is now closer than ever to regaining it thanks to her steady performances.
Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu also made a strong impression, moving up two spots to seventh after scoring 139 runs during the series. India’s Jemimah Rodrigues climbed five places to reach 15th, while South Africa’s Chloe Tryon jumped nine spots to move up to 18th in the batting rankings.
England’s Sophie Ecclestone remains the top-ranked bowler in women’s ODIs
On the bowling side, India’s Sneh Rana was the standout performer. Named Player of the Series, Rana took 15 wickets at an average of 14 and moved up four places to reach 34th in the ODI bowling rankings. South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk also rose in the rankings, climbing to 24th after an impressive run with the ball.
England’s Sophie Ecclestone continues to dominate the bowling rankings and remains the top-ranked bowler in women’s ODIs.
In the all-rounder rankings, Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner holds on to the number one position. India’s Deepti Sharma made a significant move from fifth to second, solidifying her place as one of the best in the format. Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk also climbed in the all-rounder standings, moving up to 11th and 12th, respectively.
