Smriti Mandhana Turns 29: Cricket Fraternity Floods Social Media with Birthday Wishes

Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana turned 29 today, July 18, and heartwarming wishes have poured in from all corners of the cricketing world. The left-hander, regarded as one of the finest batters of her generation, has had an illustrious career so far — with 263 international matches, 9112 international runs, and 14 centuries to her name.

Mandhana also holds the record for the most centuries by an Indian in Women’s ODIs, with 11 tons. Known for her calm personality, elegant stroke play, and consistent performances, she has become a household name in Indian cricket.

To celebrate her birthday, BCCI Women shared a special tribute, highlighting her remarkable career statistics and calling her one of the “finest modern day batters.” The tweet read: “263 intl. matches, 9112 intl. runs, 14 intl. centuries. Most hundreds by an Indian in Women’s ODIs. Here’s wishing #TeamIndia vice-captain and one of the finest modern daybatters – Smriti Mandhana, a very Happy Birthday.”

Former legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami, a longtime teammate and mentor, shared a touching Instagram story featuring a cheerful moment between the two. She wrote:”Keep smiling, keep smashing, and keep being the awesome person you are. Wishing you loads of runs and even more happiness this year!”

Wishes also came in from IPL and WPL franchises. SunRisers Hyderabad posted a picture of Mandhana raising her bat and helmet after a milestone knock with the caption: “A class apart on her day & every day! Happy Birthday, Smriti Mandhana!”

Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants, a WPL team, tweeted: “Happy Birthday to the ever-stylish southpaw, #18, Indian vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana!”

Mandhana is currently busy playing the ongoing three-match ODI series against England in England. After winning the series opener, India and Mandhana will be in action at Lord’s on 19 July in the second match. However, the historic T20I series that India women won 3-2 against England, in that only, she scored her maiden T20I hundred.
