Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has been reappointed as the Chair of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Sunday. Ganguly, who previously led India to the 2003 World Cup final, first took over the role in 2021, succeeding Anil Kumble after the latter completed the maximum permitted tenure of three terms.
Ganguly, now 52, continues in the role, reinforcing his longstanding association with global cricket governance.
Joining Ganguly on the committee is his former teammate and batting great VVS Laxman, who has also been reappointed. The revamped panel includes several other notable figures from the cricketing world—former Afghanistan pacer Hamid Hassan, legendary West Indies opener Desmond Haynes, England’s ex-batter Jonathan Trott, and South Africa’s current Test and ODI captain, Temba Bavuma.
In a parallel move, the ICC has also refreshed the Women’s Cricket Committee. Former New Zealand off-spinner Catherine Campbell continues as Chair, while new members include former Australian cricketer Avril Fahey and Cricket South Africa representative Pholetsi Moseki.
These appointments are part of the ICC’s efforts to strengthen its governance through experienced and diverse voices from across the cricketing world.
