Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President Sourav Ganguly returned to the field with the ball in hand during the Cricket Association of Bengal’s 98th Foundation Day friendly match on Sunday, February 1.

The former India captain bowled the first over for the CAB President XI in a match against the CAB Secretary XI at the JU 2nd Campus Ground in Salt Lake on February 1. Though the game was a friendly, Ganguly’s presence created a buzz among fans as the President XI won the match by six wickets.

In a recent video posted by CAB, Ganguly opened up about India’s chances in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.They will look to defend the title that they won in the 2024 edition. He said, “India is a very strong team and I think they are at their best at the moment. The batting, the spin department, the seam bowling led by (Jasprit) Bumrah. So, there is a lot of quality in the side.”

He also advised the team to peak at the right time and said, “What’s important in these big tournaments is to peak at the right time and play well during the tournament.” He added, “I know past has got no meaning but, they will peak at the big tournament and I think they will be one of my favourites.”

India are placed in Group A along with USA, Namibia, Netherlands and Pakistan. India will play their tournament opener against USA on February 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
