India is all set to host the 2025 Hockey Asia Cup, even amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. The tournament is scheduled to be held in Rajgir, Bihar; with China, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Pakistan as participants; and is an important stepping stone, considering that the winner will qualify for the 2026 FIH World Cup in Belgium.
A source close to the development has confirmed that following a war-like situation and Operation Sindoor, the tournament’s proceedings will be completely governed by the Government of India directives. The main concern is over Pakistan’s participation and whether or not the team will be allowed to enter the nation. Pakistan too, could refuse to send their team to India.
For the moment, there is no intimation from the Government of India regarding the tournament and directives regarding Pakistan’s participation. But sources have confirmed that Hockey India will only follow the Ministry’s instructions and not take decisions independently on the matter. Tournament preparations are in full swing.
This is a developing story and more updates will follow.
