Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emphatically by 110 runs in the 68th match of the IPL today. SRH delivered a complete performance on the field. First, with the bat, they posted a huge score of 278 for the loss of three wickets in their 20 overs. Then, they bundled out KKR for 168 runs in just 18.4 overs.

Though many SRH bowlers bowled well, Harsh Dubey was the standout performer. Dubey picked up three important wickets—Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh—and we know what these three are capable of in the final overs. Although Dubey bowled a half-tracker to Rinku, he hit it to deep mid-wicket and was caught by Nitish Reddy. In the very next ball, he ended Russell’s poor season with the bat. Russell played down the wrong line and was struck on the back pad. He didn’t even wait for the umpire’s decision, knowing he was plumb.

“My plan was to stick to my strength.” – Harsh Dubey

In the third and fourth balls of the 14th over, Ramandeep hit two back-to-back sixes off Dubey. But Dubey made a strong comeback and bowled him on the next delivery. Dubey finished with impressive figures of 3/34 in his four overs, at an economy rate of 8.50. Eshan Malinga and Jaydev Unadkat also bowled well, taking three wickets each.

SRH ended their season in sixth position with 13 points, while KKR finished in eighth with 12 points. After the match, regarding his performance, Dubey said: “My plan was to stick to my strength. I tried to turn the ball as much as possible, and how to use the angles and my fields to left-handers. There have been a few coaches and inputs from Ashwin and I’ve tried to incorporate my learnings.”
