Mumbai Indians (MI) registered their fourth consecutive win in IPL 2025 with a seven-wicket thumping of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday. After the bowlers set the tone, Rohit Sharma took charge with the bat, taking the game completely away from the home side and sealing the win.

Chasing a target of 144, MI lost Ryan Rickelton early for 11 off 8 balls, giving Jaydev Unadkat his 100th IPL wicket. But Rohit, fresh from a match-winning 76 not out against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), carried his form into this game. He first added 64 runs for the second wicket with Will Jacks (22 off 19), and then stitched a 53-run stand with Suryakumar Yadav for the third wicket. Rohit eventually fell for a well-made 70 off 46 balls at a strike rate of 152.17. During the knock, he also crossed the 12,000-run mark in T20s.

Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 40 off 19 balls, and MI chased down the target in just 15.4 overs. With this win, they climbed to third in the points table, with 10 points from nine matches and a net run rate of +0.673.

Their efforts helped the home team post 143/8 in 20 overs.

Trent Boult starred with the ball, taking 4 for 26, while Deepak Chahar picked up two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and captain Hardik Pandya chipped in with one wicket each. Bumrah also reached a personal milestone, claiming his 300th wicket in T20s.

“Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way.” – MI Skipper, Hardik Pandya

Boult was named the Player-of-the-Match and expressed his delight during the post-match presentation: “Nice to contribute to a good win in a big name. To keep a quality side down in their home conditions was the most satisfying,” he said.

Winning captain Pandya also shared his satisfaction, saying: “Good to have a win. Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way. I’ve felt, once everyone starts clicking in this team there will be domination. Deepak, Boult set it up; Rohit, SKY finished it. Overall, a wonderful win. Just need to get better in all departments. So far, very satisfied.”
