In today’s IPL 2025 match, where Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Rohit Sharma once more played a match-winning innings and guided the team to a comfortable win. After scoring 76* vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the last game, Rohit smashed another half century today, scoring 70 off 56 balls. He anchored the chase of 144 runs with a strike rate of 152.17 and sealed MI’s fourth consecutive win.

Rohit Sharma is only the second Indian player to score 12000 T20 runs

Despite losing Ryan Rickelton for only 11 runs, Rohit first stitched a 64-run partnership for the second wicket with Will Jacks. Then, for the third wicket, with Suryakumar Yadav, he added 53 runs and eventually, he got out for 70 off 46 balls. During this entertaining knock, he became the second Indian player after Virat Kohli to cross 12,000 runs in the T20.

Coming off a half century from the previous match where he marked that he had finally arrived to dominate again, Rohit looked calmer and more composed. He took the SRH’s bowlers with elegant drive, precise pulls and authoritative shots, which once again proved why he is called the ‘Hitman and considered as the backbone of MI’s Batting lineup.

While SRH bowlers attempted to fight back after initial blows, Rohit’s serene approach ruled out any possibility of a comeback. He was finally dismissed by Eshan Malinga, but by that time, the damage had been done. Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma sealed the deal with ease. With this win, MI climbs to the third spot in the points table, and Rohit’s form couldn’t come at a better time for the franchise.
