Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have both come out in support of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its proposal to shift the venue for the 2023 Asia Cup from Pakistan, who it was originally scheduled to be held. Both countries have also expressed their willingness to host the tournament.
The BCCI has repeatedly stated that the Indian team will not be sent to Pakistan because of the prevailing political tension between the two countries. Keeping that in mind, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had proposed a hybrid model to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). That would have allowed Pakistan to play its Asia Cup matches on home soil, with the India games being played in the United Arab Emirates or some other neutral venue.
The BCCI has not shown any enthusiasm for that proposal either. If the ACC takes the hosting rights away from Pakistan, and the PCB decides not to participate in the event, they may be replaced by the UAE in the six-nation tournament.
