
Sri Lanka defeated hosts Zimbabwe by five wickets in the second ODI to clinch the series 2-0. Pathum Nissanka was the hero for Sri Lanka as he scored a brilliant ton to take his team home.
Chasing the target of 278, Nissanka added 78 runs with Sadeera Samarawickrama for the third wicket while also stitching a crucial 90-run partnership with skipper Charith Asalanka. These two partnerships not only gave the Sri Lankan innings solidity but also took the team near victory. Nissanka was outstanding as he scored 122 off 136 balls, including 16 fours at a strike rate of 89.71. Asalanka also played well for his 71 off 61 balls, including seven fours at a strike rate of 116.39. For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans took two wickets each.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and put Zimbabwe to bat first. Ben Curran was the highest scorer for Zimbabwe with 79 runs off 95 balls, including nine fours at a strike rate of 83.16. Sikandar Raza was unbeaten at 59 off 55 balls, hitting five fours and a six at a strike rate of 107.27. For Sri Lanka, Dushmantha Chameera took 3/52 in his 10 overs at an economy rate of 5.20. Nissanka was adjudged the player of the match as well as the player of the series.
