Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the appointment of former India fielding coach R. Sridhar for a specialised 10-day fielding program aimed at raising the overall standards of fielding across its national and developmental squads.
The program, set to begin on May 7, will include members from the men’s and women’s national teams, the Emerging squads, Premier Club players, the National U19 team, and the Women’s ‘A’ side. Sridhar’s involvement is part of a broader initiative by SLC to instill high-performance fielding techniques throughout the domestic and national structure.
Sridhar, a BCCI Level 3 certified coach, brings with him vast experience, having served as India’s fielding coach across more than 300 international matches between 2014 and 2021. Widely credited with revolutionising India’s fielding standards during his tenure, his methods are expected to bring fresh intensity and technique to Sri Lanka’s setups.
Sridhar will also work in collaboration with the National, High Performance, and Club Coaches throughout his stint
The 10-day camp will begin with the men’s national team before extending to other squads. Sessions will include high-intensity fielding drills, skill-specific training modules, and match-simulation exercises designed to mirror real-game conditions.
Sridhar will also work in collaboration with the National, High Performance, and Club Coaches throughout his stint, ensuring knowledge transfer and long-term benefit to Sri Lanka’s coaching ecosystem.
This initiative signals Sri Lanka’s intent to enhance its on-field competitiveness through world-class coaching and structured development pathways.
