
Mitchell Starc, who is in breathtaking form in the ongoing Ashes, achieved his career best second spot in the ICC Test bowler’s ranking. Starc shares the second position with Pakistan’s Noman Ali with 843 rating points. India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the chart with 879 ratings. Australian captain Pat Cummins has just two rating points less than Starc and stands at the fourth spot. Matt Henry is fifth in the list with 836 ratings.
England’s hero in the first innings of the Boxing day Test Josh Tongue, who took the first Test fifer by an English cricketer at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the 21st century, jumped 13 spots to 30. Brydon Carse’s four wickets in the second innings of the same Test helped him to go to 23 from 29. Scott Boland who is the third highest wicket taker in the series with 16 wickets has jumped two spots to the seventh spot.
Joe Root leads the chart of the ICC Test rankings for batters with 867 points. Harry Brook, who got 41 and an unbeaten 18 in a low scoring affair at the MCG, is in the second spot with 846 ratings. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is in the third spot with 822 ratings. Two Aussies, Travis Head and Steve Smith hold the fourth and the fifth spot with 816 and 811 ratings.
