New Zealand will be playing against England in a three-match ODI series without the services of Kyle Jamieson, who in turn has been laid low by stiffness on his left side during Saturday’s training session. He will return to Christchurch for medical evaluation, with hopes of regaining fitness ahead of the upcoming home series against the West Indies in November.

Though the right-arm pacer played in the first two T20 internationals against England on October 18 and 20, he did not feature in the final game on October 23.

New Zealand’s head coach Rob Walter said: “Kyle experienced some stiffness in his side after bowling today (Saturday) and we didn’t want to take any risks at this stage of the summer. We felt it was best for him to sit out this one-day series and give himself the best chance of being ready for the West Indies tour which starts on November 5 in Auckland.”

The coach also said that a replacement for Jamieson will be announced soon.
