Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been dealt a severe blow with the announcement that Washington Sundar, their star all-rounder, will be unavailable for the remainder of IPL 2023 because of a hamstring injury. Through a post on social media, Hyderabad confirmed that Sundar would not be able to participate in the remaining matches. “Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 due to a hamstring injury,” said the social-media post.

Sundar’s absence will leave a massive void, as he was an integral part of the playing eleven. Despite going through a lean patch, he rekindled Hyderabad’s fortunes in the game against Delhi Capitals (DC) by taking three wickets for 28 runs in his four overs.
The Tamil Nadu-based cricketer played seven matches in the IPL this season, taking three wickets at an economy rate of 8.26 runs per over. Additionally, he scored 60 runs at a poor average of 15.
