India captain Suryakumar Yadav noted that they got the team combination right in the third T20I against Australia; a match that the visitors won by five wickets to level the series 1-1.

In the post match presentation, the India captain said, “Washi (Washington Sundar) showed great flexibility, Jitesh contributed well, and Arshdeep was outstanding. It felt like the right combination tonight.”

He also compared the opening pace duo of  Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh with the opening batting pair of Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, “Yes, they’re a fantastic pair (Bumrah and Arshdeep) – a bit like Shubman and Abhishek up top. Bumrah does his job quietly, keeps it tight, and Arshdeep capitalizes from the other end. Together, they’re a really lethal combination,”  he said.

Australia scored 186 runs for the loss for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Tim David scored 74 runs off 38 balls while Marcus Stoinis added 64 runs off 39 balls. Arshdeep was India’s key bowler, taking 3 wickets and conceding 35 runs. He dismissed Travis Head, Josh Inglis, and Marcus Stoinis. Varun Chakravarthy also picked up two wickets, while Shivam Dube managed to get one scalp.

India started well with Abhishek (25) and Suryakumar (24). Tilak Verma also added 29 runs. Washington and Jitesh Sharma then changed the course of the game. Washington scored 49 not out off 23 balls and added 43 runs off 25 balls with Jitesh to seal the deal.

The fourth T20I will be played in Carrara, on Thursday, November 6.
