India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav lauded his team’s all-round performance after they defeated Australia by 48 runs in the fourth T20I in Carrara, on Thursday. The win gave India a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

In the post-match presentation Suryakumar said, “I feel credit goes to all the batters. The way Shubman and Abhishek started, they knew this was not a 200-220 wicket. They batted very smartly. It was a complete team effort from the batters. [Bowling] The message is clear. Me and Gauti bhai, we are on the same page.

“There was a little dew but the bowlers adapted quickly. Always good to have bowlers who give you 2-3 overs  [on Dube and Washington bowling]. This combination suits us. People chipping in, raising their hands, bailing their side is great.”

India posted a good total of 167 runs for the loss of eight wickets. They got a strong start from the openers, Shubman Gill (46) and Abhishek Sharma (28), with the duo adding 56 runs. Axar Patel also added 21* runs in the end. Adam Zampa and Nathan Ellis bowled well for Australia, taking three wickets each.

While chasing, Australia lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for only 119 runs. Washington was outstanding with the ball as he took three crucial wickets and conceded only three runs. On the other hand, Shivam Dube and Axar also took two wickets each. Axar was also named the player of the match for his outstanding all-round performance.

The fifth and final T20I will be played at the Gabba, November 8, where Australia will look to level the series.
