Swapnil Singh’s All-Round Brilliance Lights Up TNPL 2025

Swapnil Singh made a strong impact in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) on 9 June in Coimbatore, as Chepauk Super Gillies defeated Nellai Royal Kings by 41 runs. After being benched for the entire IPL 2025 season with eventual champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Swapnil finally got his chance to showcase his talent in the TNPL.

Batting at number 6, Swapnil came in during the 17th over with Chepauk on 154/4. He smashed 45 runs off just 14 balls, including two boundaries and five maximums. His big-hitting spree began in the 18th over, where he took Uday Kumar for 25 runs, including a four and three consecutive sixes. In the final over, he struck two more sixes but was dismissed just short of his half-century.

Earlier, opener K Aashiq scored 54 runs off 38 balls, captain B Aparajith added 41 from 29 deliveries, and Vijay Shankar contributed an unbeaten 47 from 24 balls. Chepauk posted a formidable total of 212/7.

Swapnil also contributed with the ball, taking two crucial wickets in a single over—removing NS Harish and Ajitesh Guruswamy. He conceded just 26 runs in his four overs. Abhishek Tanwar was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3/33. Swapnil’s all-round heroics earned him the Player of the Match award.

For Nellai, skipper Arun Karthik scored 51 runs, while Muhammad Adnan Khan chipped in with 48, but they ultimately fell short, finishing on 171/9.

The win took Chepauk Super Gillies to the top of the TNPL points table. Their next match is against Lyca Kovai Kings on 14 June.
