After a six-year long break, the T20 Mumbai League is set to make a much-anticipated return, promising to reignite cricket fever in the city of dreams. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced that the eight-team tournament is scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium from 26 May to 8 June.

Leading the list of icon players are India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane, all of whom have been designated as icon players for this edition.

Prithvi Shaw named amongst 8 Icon players

Joining them on the icon player roster are Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur, Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dube, and Tushar Deshpande, adding further star power to the event. Notably, Rohit Sharma will not feature in the league following his retirement from T20 internationals. Prithvi Shaw, despite going unsold in the recent IPL auction, is set to participate. All eight icon players have represented India at the international level.

Commenting on the league’s revival, MCA President Ajinkya Naik highlighted the value of having such experienced players involved: “We’re proud to introduce eight icon players who have made significant contributions to Mumbai cricket on both domestic and international platforms. Their inclusion reflects the heritage, strength, and excellence of our cricketing ecosystem. Their presence will not only inspire and mentor emerging talent but also raise the standard of the tournament, offering fans a thrilling and memorable cricketing experience.”

The league will feature eight teams, each permitted to select one icon player. The participating franchises include Sobo Mumbai Falcons, Mumbai South Central, North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.
