Canada have become the 13th team to book their spot in the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after a strong seven-wicket victory over the Bahamas in the Americas regional qualifying finals. The match was played in Ontario, where Canada proved far too strong for their opponents.
This win marked Canada’s fifth consecutive victory in the tournament, which also featured Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. With this result, Canada secured the top spot on the points table, confirming their qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup even before the final two matches of the event.
Canada Qualified for the 2024 T20 World Cup as Well
Canada had also qualified for the 2024 edition of the tournament—held in the West Indies and the USA—via the same qualification pathway. The 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will feature 20 teams in total.
In their most recent match, Canadian bowlers completely dominated the Bahamas, bowling them out for just 57 runs in 19.5 overs. Kaleem Sana was outstanding, taking 3 wickets for just 6 runs. Ansh Patel chipped in with 2 for 7, while Shivam Sharma picked up 3 for 16.
Canada chased down the small target in only 5.3 overs. Dilpreet Bajwa starred with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 36 off just 14 balls. With the USA not participating in this competition, Canada were clear favourites—and they didn’tdisappoint.
They will play their final match of the tournament on Sunday against Bermuda.
