Bangladesh pacer Ebadot Hossain has been declared unfit for the upcoming Asia Cup due to a knee injury sustained during the ODI series against Afghanistan. Although Ebadot was initially named in the 17-man squad, his incomplete rehabilitation led to his exclusion.
To fill the void left by Ebadot’s absence, 20-year-old uncapped fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib will step in. The status of Ebadot’s availability for the World Cup remains uncertain, given his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the ODI series.
“Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury. We have had multiple MRIs done during this time and the reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management. Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup,” BCB Chief Sports Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said.
Tanzim was selected by the BCB National Selection Panel after he showcased his potential by claiming nine wickets in three games during the recent ACC Emerging Men’s Asia Cup.
