Shafali Verma has shared her thoughts on the two-match suspension of India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, which will keep her out of the first two matches of the Asian Games scheduled to commence on September 19 in Hangzhou, China.

Harmanpreet was suspended for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the recent ODI series against Bangladesh.

She broke the stumps with her bat after being adjudged leg-before. She made adverse comments against the umpires while leaving the field and also at the post-match media conference. The series concluded in a 1-1 tie.

“Of course, it’s a big loss for the team that she (Harmanpreet) won’t be playing the first two matches. But you have to make adjustments according to the situation. We would just like to go there and perform,” Shafali, the opening batter, was quoted as saying by News18.

Due to the suspension, Harmanpreet will miss the first two matches of the Asian Games. Smriti Mandhana will lead the side in her absence.
