The Dutch show they are not bothered about limits

In a showdown at Eden Gardens, both teams were eager to claim victory. The spirited Dutch team ultimately emerged superior, securing a significant win that promises not only to boost their confidence in their ongoing campaign but also for the cricket they are yet to play in the future.

The Dutch once again showcased their unwavering spirit and demonstrated their potential as a formidable force in international cricket. The standout performer for the Netherlands, not surprisingly, was the dependable Scott Edwards. He delivered a remarkable innings of 68 runs. His performance provided much-needed stability to an innings that initially appeared somewhat chaotic.

The Bangladeshi bowlers exhibited skill, making life challenging for the Dutch batsmen who struggled to find their rhythm and accumulate runs. As a result, only Wesley Barresi and Sybrand Engelbrecht managed to make significant contributions alongside captain Edwards. A notable mention goes to Logan van Beek, who remained unbeaten at the end of the innings, crafting a crucial 23 from just 16 balls. His late surge proved pivotal in setting a reasonable target of 229.

On the other side of the contest, the Bangladeshi batters might have anticipated a relatively comfortable chase, given their familiarity with the conditions at Eden Gardens. However, the Dutch bowlers had different intentions. The early loss of one of their more accomplished batsmen, Litton Das piled pressure on Bangladesh. Shortly after that, Tanzid Hasan also had to walk back. The early wickets for the Netherlands shifted the momentum of the game and increased the pressure on the Bangladesh.

Van Beek delivered two consecutive maiden overs, highlighting the immense pressure that was building on the Bangladeshi batting line-up. After the early wickets, prospects of gaining any momentum seemed increasingly bleak, as they continued to walk back to the hut.

Bangladesh had pinned their hopes on Shakib al Hasan, to deliver a remarkable performance. However, he struggled, managing only a meager five, encapsulating the overall challenges faced by the Bangladeshi team. His inability to make an impact compounded the woes.

As the chase progressed, the target proved too daunting for the Bangla Tigers, with no standout batting performance emerging to turn the tide in their favour. The champion from their previous game, Mahmudullah, offered a glimmer of hope but eventually succumbed after putting up a valiant fight. His dismissal signaled the end of the road for Bangladesh.
