India’s star all-rounder Deepti Sharma has opted out of The Hundred 2025 season to manage her workload. She will be replaced in the London Spirit squad by rising Australian talent Charli Knott.

Deepti played a key role in Spirit’s title-winning campaign last year and is currently in England for India’s white-ball series against the hosts. With a packed international calendar ahead—including the home ODI World Cup from September to November—she has chosen to take a break from the competition. Before the ODI World Cup, India are also scheduled to host Australia for a three-match ODI series in September.

London Spirit Thank Deepti

“Deepti will always have a special place in Spirit history, having produced the team’s most iconic moment when she struck the ball over long-on for six to secure our first The Hundred title last summer,” the franchise said in a statement on Tuesday (8 July).

“She starred with both bat and ball throughout the tournament and was our highest-ranked player in the MVP standings. We hope to welcome her back to Lord’s in future seasons.”

To fill the void left by Deepti, London Spirit have Knott. The 22-year-old has featured in 59 matches for Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League and was part of Southern Brave in The Hundred last year.

“I can’t wait to take the field with London Spirit this year,” Knott said. “Having experienced the excitement The Hundred has to offer during my short stint last year, I’m really looking forward to playing again. It’s a great opportunity to compete with and against the best cricketers in the world at the Home of Cricket.”

London Spirit are the defending champions, having lifted the 2024 title with a four-wicket win over Welsh Fire in the final.
