The Indian Mixed Disability cricket team is all set to embark on a groundbreaking journey as they start the first-ever Mixed Disability T20 Series against England on Saturday, June 21. The side, coached by former Rajasthan Ranji captain Rohit Jhalani, enter the series on a high, having convincingly won both their warm-up matches against the England Mixed Disability Lions in Budleigh and Salterton.

The official campaign begins at 6:30 PM GMT in Taunton, with high hopes riding on the Indian side following their strong pre-series performances.

In a heartwarming and symbolic gesture, the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) and the team management in England organised a unique activity ahead of the series opener. While the Indian men’s team was dominating proceedings at Headingley, the Mixed Disability squad marked International Yoga Day (which is on June 21) with an open-air yoga and mindfulness session at Budleigh Salterton Beach in Exeter.

Speaking exclusively to RevSportz, DCCI General Secretary Ravikant Chauhan said, “We wanted to begin the series with a calm and focused mindset. After two successful warm-up matches, it was the perfect time to engage in mental and physical conditioning through yoga.”

He added, “On the occasion of International Yoga Day, we encourage everyone to embrace yoga and lead a healthy lifestyle.”

In a major boost for visibility and inclusivity, all seven matches of this historic series will be streamed live on Sony LIV in India.
