As we approach the FIFA World Cup 2026, to be hosted in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico, popular sportswear manufacturer Adidas launched 22 home jerseys of different countries likely to participate in the showpiece event. The German sportswear giants on their social media resealed the jerseys in a picture with all the jerseys hanging in the streets, somewhere under the open sky.
The teams are Algeria, Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Northern Ireland, Peru, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Wales. Though most of them have already booked their tickets for the World Cup, there are some in this list who are yet to or perhaps will not qualify for the event. But, that doesn’t stop them having an iconic piece of their national pride which they can wear.
Each jersey holds the heritage from their respective countries and values their culture and history. In the traditional colours of each country, the broad collection portrays each country’s identity.
Adidas goes a long back when it comes to sponsoring football jerseys at the FIFA World Cups. They’ve been one of the major jersey manufacturers when it comes to world football. The Trefoil Logo became iconic on the Argentina jersey, when Mario Kempes helped lift Argentina’s first World Cup in 1978 — the first time manufacturer logos started appearing on the jerseys.

In 1990, the iconic Argentina versus Germany final, saw the Trifoil logo on both sides. One of Germany’s most iconic World Cup shirts had the Trifoil logo for the last time, as Lothar Matthäus lifted the World Cup, and made way for the Mountain logo and the symbolic Three-Stripes on the sleeves.

Over time, Adidas have produced some memorable jerseys at the football World Cups, cherished by fans across the globe.
This time, the 22 jerseys have been launched and more will be once all the teams are confirmed. Each jersey holds a special meaning.
The Argentina shirt in the classic vertical three stripes, met with a modern touch of three-tone faded shade. The three tones of blue comes from the three triumphant jerseys from 1978, 1986 and 2022. The back of the neck has a minute detail that reads ‘1896’ — the foundation year of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
The German shirt also pays tribute to their past winners. The front of the jersey somewhat holds a design similar to the 1990 edition with a mix of the 2014 edition as well in terms of colour and stripes.

Italy’s jersey celebrates the FIGC (the Italian Football Federation) and the bright blue showcases a design which perhaps depicts Italy’s historic symbol of winning — the leaves and branches. However, there is no official explanation from the designer.
The Mexico jersey might just attract most neutral fans who love to collect football shirts. A blend of the Aztec art with the Mexico green, the back of the neck says ‘Somos Mexico’, which means ‘We Are Mexico’.

The Spanish shirt portrays a clean and classic red base with pinstripe finish. The three stripes on the sleeves are coloured in red and yellow depicting the national flag. The back of the neck says, ESPAÑA.
To all fans across the globe, the jerseys are up for grab on the Adidas official website, and for those in India, the price of each is ₹ 6,599 without customisations.
