After steering Australia to a thrilling two-wicket win against England at Edgbaston, with a game-breaking innings of 44, Pat Cummins observed that the wicket was still decent for batting when he walked out to bat. And he was quite confident of guiding his sided home.
“Pretty good (On his team’s chances when he came to bat). The wicket didn’t have too many demons in it. I thought it was well within our grasp,” he said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Ultimately, England’s bold and flamboyant ‘Bazball’ approach was outmanoeuvred by Australia’s genuine resilience in a five-day Ashes battle filled with thrilling exchanges, captivating spectators like never before.
“Both teams spoke about their styles and that’s the beauty of the series. We’ll both play to our strengths. Don’t know which is better but makes for good entertainment,” he added.
